Hit me with some thoughts

I’m a big fan of the long cnat, but would like some other options. I’m sure the list is endless.

Put in to context, say the start of Rakish Paddy, O’Flynn does quite a few things here. I beleive something like cnat,b,aa?

Still not quite there in disecting all things by ear.

All sugetions welcomed, except selling the pipes and becoming a bodhran player.

Slan,

smack

I really should not be talking smack in here, sorry.

Have you tried using something like the Amazing Slowdowner software?

you can get it from:
http://www.ronimusic.com/ I think.

a roll on the c natural is good too. it’s a bit tricky as the fingers off the chanter are a bit stange.

a long c is good but when overused in a tune, it loses its impact a bit so variation is the key i reckon.

I have to agree. The beauty of these embellishments is maintained by moderation of their use.

Get yourself a copy of Dennis Brooks “A Tutor for the Union pipes, a Workbook” It covers every ornament.

Where can one find this book?

How about keeping the pipes and becoming a bodhran player as well.

JES, check out Na Piobairi Uilleann, it is listed as “The Tutor” Denis Brooks. Price: 15.23 euro (Members save 1.90).

I must possess it…

… someday, oh yes, someday it will be mine.

I do believe that I have the denis brooks tutor somwhere. Thanks all. I will be off now to give rolling the c a bit of a lash.

On my simak d the cnat has a fantastic “impact” ability to a tune, if you know what i mean. So I don’t wnat to over do it.

Thanks all,

Bigtime, are you Galway city? If so do you know Lorenzo Morales?

If you do can you pass on my regards as I never got to have that last tune before I left Galway,

Slan,

Liam

The Brooks Tutor is published by and available from the Seattle Pipers’ Club (which you should, of course, already be a member of):

hey liam,
yeah i’m in galway city. i don’t know lorenzo that well. have run into him in coili’s a couple of times but not in the past few months. i’ll say hi if i see him.

If you do that would be much appreciated!

When I left in Feb of this year he was playing in the Crane upsatirs I think on Thursday and The Kings Head on Saturday arvo. Sometimes at Taffes as well I think.

I did not go to the music bars much, spent most of my time in Freenys, Front door & McSwiggans.

Though the pint was mighty in Naughtons and Murphys and…

I think I’ll just nip off for a few scoops now.

Liam

yeah freeneys and murphys have the best guinness in galway i reckon. excellent stuff. if i keep to coili’s mostly but if i see lorenzo il pass on your regards for sure.

D’OH!!! I knew that!
