high 'g'

I have been playing-in a concert D reed that I made a couple of weeks ago and although it is easy to play and sounds nice I can’t sustain high ‘G’ without increasing the bag pressure.I had another two pipers try the reed and they had the same problem. Is there a fix for this problem or should I put it to one side and make another reed?

Hi Mike, well I had the same problem, I used to put the bridle very low, close to the staple eye and the problem got solved when I set the bridle a little higher, about 7 mm above the binding or so.
I didn´t understand if the high G drops in pitch or if it falls to first octave.

Could you post a recording of what is happening to your high G ?

Sorry Podge,I don’t have one .Thanks all the same
