Playing tourist in Munich and surrounding places. Leaving tomorrow for Switzerland, then the Alsace area. But I’ll be back to Munich in two weeks and so I’m wounding if anyone knows of music shops around that sell high end whistles? (something other than Clarke or Generation).
It’s been 10+ years … I remember a fairly nice music shop just across from the west end of the Frauenkirche (Frauenplatz, near Marienplatz). They had some folk instruments, but I don’t remember which whistles in particular, or even know if the shop is still there.
There’s Hieber Lindberg a few blocks west of the above. They sell at least Generation and Clarke.
If you find yourself near a HUG store in Switzerland, you could try there, too.
Colin Goldie makes his whistles in Rath-Anhoven, up near the Dutch border about 6 hours from Munich. Maybe it would be worth a trip there (train?) to visit his workshop and try some? I have one which I like very much. Check his website, and he might be able to tell you if any shops in Munich carry his whistles.
