Australia scraped a lucky win in the first Test. Lucky because it stopped raining and England had to go out and bat.

1 Test: 21-25 July at Lord’s
2nd Test: 4-8 August at Edgbaston
3rd Test: 11-15 August at Old Trafford
4th Test: 25-29 August at Trent Bridge
5th Test: 8-12 September at Brit Oval
Next Thursday. Barring tornados. Edgbaston is in Birmingham.

The Ozzies were lucky chudders. It only stopped raining for about 47 minutes and our chaps were only half-way through the cucumber sandwiches at the time. Took us by surpise.
They really only won because our chaps couldn’t catch a chudding cold much less a cricket-ball, and our batsmen were, with but one exception, pants.
And it was a bit obvious that the Australians practiced before the game, too.
Okay, I have them marked on the calendar; will be waiting for the C&F play-by-play. You Brits and Ozzies are obligated to keep us in the loop, expecially those in the backwaters of the colonial nations… The wireless doesn’t pick it up from here.

Brit is not a term we use for ourselves, it’s what other nations call the British. Still, it used to be called the Fosters Oval, so I guess it’s an improvement.
Earlier still, the Kennington Oval. Did Kennington get up and move somewhere else? Amazing what suburbs will do to oblige a sponsor.
OMG, that would be daunting to be playing the Australians in “Fosters” Oval. It would be like playing them on their home turf!
