OK, so you’ve pointed it out to me over and over about Paul McGrattan playing the Christmas Eve set from ‘The Frost is All Over’. Next question is, any idea the whistle he used in recording that track? I know a lot can be done in the studio with overdubbing and such, but you can’t change the overall tone of say a Susato to sound like a Burke - it just ain’t gonna happen! LOL
Just idle curiosity.

Dear Brian: No I don’t but if you post this over at Flute Forum you might find out. Supposedly he has posted there before.
I wondered myself because its so crystal clear. He just came out with a new album but its been 10 years since Frost so I doubt its same instruments.
Will keep me ears open tho.
At the time that recording was made I only ever saw him play Generations. I do have a tape however of him playing a few tunes on a whistle made out of a whale bone found on a beach around Miltown Malbay, and transformed into a whistle pitchesd around F by Nick Adams.
Hmmm. Generation. Should have guessed I suppose!

Not too many whales here in Utah (though I’ve dated some trolls from time to time), so I’ll have to just assume this bone whistle is a one of a kind.
