Hey Rich, What's an Invalid Sesson?

Quite an ironic error message for a whistle forum, but I get that error mesage when I try to post things using my AOL browser. The odd thing is that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. In IE it seems to always work.

this has to do with cookies usually. aol’s browser might be reading from your ie cookies folder. you can try deleting the cookie and seeing if that fixes the problem?

I’ll try that, thanks.

I remember when my other forum upgraded their phpBB they had to fix a couple of AOL related issues. It seems the AOL folks don’t make things easy for webmasters.

I think it’s a session in which all the players are recovering from some illness (or perhaps from overindulgence in Guinness at the session the night before)

Sorry…couldn’t resist!

Redwolf

hehe, aol doesn’t make anything easy. quite honestly neither does ie and microsoft. their browsers don’t really follow any standards whatsooever in rendering of html. but oh well

AOL does strange things with its army of proxy servers – the problem you describe rings a bell. (I bet that your login request and subsequent requests are coming from different IP addresses, and sessions are tied to addresses.) I’ll look into it tonight.
Cheers,

An invalid session: 2 hammered dulcimists, 1 recorder player, 1 electronic keyboardist, and a Boehm flautist, spending an evening trying to play O Danny Boy in an “authentic-sounding” manner.

While drinking Diet Snapple.

LOL, Walden!

I thought it was a bunch of banjo players trying to play in tune together.

Rich, I get “invalid session” while posting using IE. My cookies are set at Medium. Is that still too high a level of security/privacy for this board?

[post-edit: strange, now it works. It didn’t work in the Test forum. Going back there to try again]
