So, sometime in series four of Heroes, Sylar is wandering around a derelict Roadside Diner, recalling events from his childhood. He loses a toy down the back of the seating, and now, twenty years later he proves he was there by finding the same toy.
For all I know this is a real American cliche. But I have seen it once before - either on a major TV series or a film reshown on TV. At least ten years ago.
It is the same events: a derelict diner, and proof that the actors were there before by finding something lost down the seating.
Anyone have any idea what the orginal film (or TV show) was?
There was a 1995 episode of “Due South” (Canadian Mountie in Chicago) called “The Man Who Knew Too Little” where Fraser and Ray are transporting a pathological liar back to Canada. They stop at a diner that the guy claims he went to as a kid (now closed) but Ray doesn’t believe him, until they find a little box of treasures that he kept under a table. Could this be what you are thinking of?
I’m really enjoying Supernatural. Great humour, great music and hot babes. What’s not to love? I just bought the first 3 seasons on DVD. Lots of good jokes and references to old sci-fi and horror movies. Like the episode that starred Linda Blair, the oblique comment at the end about could really go for some pea soup.
I think Heroes is chock-full of cliches, it itself being too similar to The 4400 for my taste. That said, I only really watch the 1st and 2nd seasons of Heroes.
