Darn! With that lowercase “L” that looks like an uppercase “I”, I thought that you were going to say that the new Miss America is actually a robot with Artifical Intelligence. Oh, well…
Miss America, the former Miss Alabama, is not one of my interns. She did apply for an internship here, scored well in the swimsuit contest, but did poorly on the interview. (I think she would have done well, except she was smoking a cigarette, which really put me off). I’m glad she changed her talent thing. When she applied here, it was a combination baton-twirling, comedy monologue, tenor sax-playing thing. It didn’t work for me.
Miss America, more than any other major American beauty pageant, makes a pretence of being wholesome and even academic (it is, after all, a scholarship program). Beyond the pretence, it’s as objectifying as any other mainstream American pageant.
A nod was given to this fact when they began calling the swimsuit competition a fitness competition. They then went to scanter costumes. Indeed they are saying if you can wow the judges by your appearance in high heels and less covered than uncovered, you are fit to be Mis America.
Ya mean Dr Packandinflate. You don’t have to worry about me competing in the pageant, Dana. I’d never go for the bikini wax job. (I’d probably lose too many points forgoing it.) I hear butt implants are becoming popular with men. (I’m not saying I couldn’t use one.)(I mean two.)
Tony (pleasant dreams)
The newly crowned Miss America is a medical student at the University of Alabama. She is also a regular contributor at another forum in which I lurk. http://www.drslounge.com. Her name is ATPase.
