Ive been playing whistle for some time and now someone gave me a flute, its a wood flute with six holes…ive tried it and cant get a single sound out of it…do i need some sort of mouthpiece for it???
Please help me, sorry if its a really stupid question…

There should be a seventh hole, in the headjoint. This is the hole you blow across.
It takes time for a beginner to find the correct embouchure. You could experiment using, just the headjoint, until you get the hang of it.
I’m pretty much a rank beginner myself, so the only advice I can offer is that the embouchure hole (the one you blow across) goes up.
