Sorry if you have to download this but I have been trying to find this tune for ages…it at a ‘96 Corrs concert in Japan. It is the tune they play before they break into Haste to the Wedding. I heard elsewhere that it is the Foxhunter’s but it doesnt’ sound like the Foxhunters. Is it?

sorry i don’t know that tune, but i’m sure it’s not the foxhunters.
Sounds similar to “The Rakes of Kildare” Haven’t heard or played that tune in ages.
I’d go along with Bill, seems like a odd version though…maybe they play it like that in Dundalk.

My first time hearing them as well and I was stunned, but not in a good way
Well is may surprise you but they’ve opened up the doors to Trad Irish music for me. It was they that got me into whistling in the first place so it’s them I am thankful for and will always remain a fan.

The Rakes of Kildare sounds pretty similar. I think I may try it out…after I learn about a million and one tunes that I have been wanting to try out as well.

No real surprise. A lot of us were introduced to the music by means of entertainers who didn’t receive the full approbation of the pure drop ITM community. How you get started on the journey isn’t the important thing here.
Hmmm. That Corrs link tried all sorts of mischief when I tried to download it (didn’t bother in the end). I bought a cheapo compilation double album in about 1980, knowing nothing about Irish music. It had Planxty doing Raggle Taggle Gypsy/Give Me Your Hand on it. The rest is history.
