I thought it might be rude to just post a “pictures of your pipes” without saying anything else…
Long time listener first time caller. I play a (probably Donnacha Keegan) practice set that I got from Todd Denman about nine or ten years ago upgraded with some early Childress drones in 1997(?). I also (love to) play a B Angus stick that I got from him a couple of years ago. And now I play this killer D set!
I have been playing ITM in some capacity since around 1986, I have been to one West coast Tionol (1996 I think) and once made it out to the catskills for some excellent tuition from Jerry O’Sullivan. I learned endless session tunes from accordion player (and now free man!) Michael Cannon playing with the Pub Scouts in Chico CA during college (best eight years I ever spent.), And now I live in Portland OR with my wife and four kids, work as a carpenter and make it out maybe once every three months to one of the good portland sessions.
Anyway, nice to meet you all (even though I feel like I know you all because I have been reading this forum for a long time)
Hi Don–Nice to see a new avatar! My practice set is on order, so I’m just a groupie right now. I’ve visited my sister’s family in Beaverton and Portand seems like a lovely place to me. Glad you made yourself known.
Portland is beatiful city with great piping weather (unlike Chico. If you’ve been there, you know) Give an email if you are comming back to visit and we can share a tune (that goes for anyone else too) I am definetly going up to Seattle in Feb. Any other PDX pipers going? Carpool? Party Bus?
You’re in good company there in Portland. Besides Brad in Vancouver, there’s Kevin, Tom, and Jim (retired) in the Ptd area, and Gail in Oregon City, Leonard in Albany, and Steve in the Sisters. I’m out in E. Oregon now. Brad just got a computer too. Beware, some of the Portland area pipers may turn out to be the same person! Strange bunch there!
I have actually lived here for a few years now. I know Kevin and have been to Gail’s before for a get together a few years ago. I even had one at my place once, I think Leonard and Jim came to that one. I met Channing briefly at Paddy Keenan’s show at Alberta Street earlier this year. I have wondered why Portland (or all Oregon) does not have an established pipers “club” or even a regular get together considering how many of us (even accounting for duplicates) there are.
I look forward to meeting you in person someday (maybe at one of the future Oregon Pipers Association gala events.)

They/It does/did. I wrote about it in the Piper’s Review, I’m, drum roll, President For Life. I’ve moved so I’m in exile I guess.
I called up Gail last July about having a shindig but we didn’t make any solid plans. I’m out in Newberg now and have Jack else to do so it’s your call, Don Bomb!
Good to see ya on the board. That new set from Brad looks orgasmically delicious. Can’t wait to see/hear it. I’d also love to hear the Donnacha Keegan chanter you’ve got sometime. Definitely goin’ up to the toenail in Seattle in February. Hope to see you out at Alberta St. sometime.
