"Have Ye This One?" Tutorial CD & WOTB Update

Hi Everybody,

Just a quick shout-out to fellow lovers and players of flutes. I’d like to thank all of those who attended this past year’s Wind On The Bay event. It was the second year of the event and was everything that the first year was plus a bit more. My thanks to John Skelton and Andra Bohnet for teaching this year. Great music and never a dull a moment…

Next year’s event is set for the first weekend of October here in East Greenwich, RI. A couple of new instructors will be added to next year’s event, so we’re looking forward to WOTB 2004!

Also, I’ve just released a play-along style, two-CD set of mainly traditional tunes called “Have Ye This One?” The tunes are played at three speeds with a gradual addition of ornamentation to each setting. There is also a companion tune book with the first two (of three) settings written out. For details on the new release, just visit:

By the time I get this posted, John Harvey should have a tune and notation sample online for all of you to listen to. If you have any questions, just email me at skip@skiphealy.com .

All the best,

I finally got some time to myself, and thought I’d give my impressions of Skip’s newest endeavor. In a word - FANTASTIC!

Coming from a background in classical music, my ability to read music is stronger than playing by ear. With this set, I can either focus on the ear training and use the tune book for back up; or sight read and use the CD’s when I’m stuck.
Of course, either way - its fun trying to play along with Skip!!

For anyone looking to improve their ability to play by ear +/or sight reading - this is THE set to get!
