Has anybody played Ralph Sweet's new Professional model Fife

I’ve seen a couple of favorable C&F reviews of the professional model whistle, but I was curious if anybody here had tried the fife head on the thing.

My limited experience with transverse flutes in that key so far is that the holes are awfully close together. Any thoughts there?

If anybody has one come on and fess up.

Me! Me!

I love it. Now, I should qualify by saying that I play very little flute, but the flute head for this whistle is such that I can play a much stronger tone than on just about any flute I’ve struggled to play.

Thanks Dale,

I certainly struggle with the flute, but it’s my primary instrument. I think I’ll give it a try. I have one of Ralph’s G fifes (rosewood), that I like very much.

To make wild generalizations, I find myself liking the Sweetheart flutes more the better I get at the instrument, but I haven’t found any of them particularly easy to play at first try.

I really don’t think the sweetheart flutes are the easiest flute to play if you’re new. I started a thread a while back that showed the measurements (tone holes, bore, etc.) on a Seery and sweetheart were nearly identical - so if many say the Seery isn’t the easiest for a beginner, why would the sweet be?

I sure like my flute, and I had two of his D fifes in the past I liked, too. It would be fun to try one of his pro. models since they are a new design.
