There’s a whistle tune in Harry Potter? What part of the movie is it in? What kind of a whistle was it? I am a huge Harry Potter fanatic and definitely don’t what to miss the whistle part in the movie!!! That’s so wizard!! ![]()

I believe it was in the beginning of the movie, and it is definitely played by Hagrid outside his hut when the kids approach him about getting past Fluffy. It’s when they find out that music will put him to sleep.
“…I shouldn’t have told ye that…”

Thanks. Oh yeah, I remember that - Hagrid gave Harry a flute for Christmas and they use it to put Fluffy to sleep. But in the book, it didn’t say Hagrid was playing a whistle when they asked about Fluffy - actually, I’m re-reading the first book again and I’m right to that part. That’s cool. Did you see the movie? Were you able to tell what kind of whistle it was?
Peace,
Sara
The actor who played Hagrid is not actually playing the whistle that the audience hears. The thing he’s playing is wood or bamboo, and it’s pretty clear that sound doesn’t come out of it. It looks mystical, I guess. As for the whistle on the actual recording, I certainly wouldn’t venture a guess.

Yeah, I didn’t think he was playing it in the movie either. I didn’t get a good look at it though.
I did see the movie and have read the books twice. In the book, Hagrid gives Harry a flute for Christmas and they use it to soothe Fluffy, noting that there is a harp in the room that the intruder must have used. In the movie, Harry does not receive a flute. Hagrid is playing it when they approach him. When the pass Fluffy, the harp is in the room and they use that. I forget if it was still self-playing when they got there or if they had to activate it.
Just got to see the movie last night, and thoroughly enjoyed it.
The whistle played by Hagrid (played by Robbie Coltraine) is clearly homemade, it looks almost like a rough stick, with the mouthpiece carved all in one.
In the movie, the harp is playing when the heroes arrive in the room with Fluffy, but it stops playing when they open the trapdoor, and then…
I thought the movie was very well done, and it has fired me to continue reading with books 3 & 4, which I understand get scarier then the first two.
Yes, they do, particularly Book 4, which I’ve heard called “the pivotal book in the series.” I can’t wait for book 5!
I just got done with book 4 and it was so scary! I’m not going to to go into any detail about it in case anyone here hasn’t read it and is going to - I don’t want to give anything away. The 4th is my fave out of the series. I can’t wait for the 5th one to come out too. The reason I started reading them was because I was curious about all the talk and controversy about them and I didn’t really expect to enjoy them that much, but after I read the first chapter in the first book I became a total HP fan… I still haven’t seen the movie yet though.
Imagine peace,
Sara
