I just received a practice set, but i wonder how hard should be a chanter reed ?
do i need to squeeze a lot the bag to get the second octave ?
and if my reed is too hard, how should i make it sweeter ?
Tell me your own experience please, that will help me a lot !

If it has a bridle try pushing it down a bit to close the lips, they may be open too much…
Yep, ajusting the bridle to reach a comftable blowing pressure is important.
My reed’s from Yorkshire, it’s well hard.
