We ourselves celebrate “Secular Superbowl.” In other words, we don’t care who’s playing or what the score is (we’re only vaguely aware that there’s a game of some sort going on…I think it involves a pointy ball and guys wearing way too much padding)…we look upon it as an occasion to get together with friends, eat way too much of the traditional chili, chips and guacamole; drink way too much of the traditional beer, and laugh at the ads while reminiscing about ads past.
I’m so depressed the Steelers have a touchdown, guacamole is a Packer food BTW. I gotta go get another slice, ciao. Black Eyed Peas! I’m so unexcited, ciao.
Pop a wheelie on my head. Now the whole country is going to discuss the SuperBowl and every aspect thereof.
I don’t attend SuperBowl parties anymore, as much as stuff like baked olives would interest me. I don’t and can’t pay attention to a game and when a whole room full of people spontaneously breaks out into hooting and hollering from a dead silence and startles me, well, that’s just too much.
The wife and I haven’t been to a Super Bowl party since '68. We love Cheddar cheese wrapped baked Spanish olives, Packer colours of course. The family in Wisconsin did sorta go wild, about four multi-layer Packer themed cakes and several dozen kid decorated Packer cupcakes. All for good luck, can’t prove it didn’t work.
You need to watch it with an Englishman then. His team scored and he said “ah” in an appreciative manner and then whispered “yes”. Gave me a fit of the giggles. A “jolly good” would have been perfect.
