I’m taking my sister and nephew to Mary College. They are having a Celtic Concert. I’m sure it will amount to “Danny Boy” the “Irish Washerwoman” and the complete score of “Riverdance” but hey here in the great plains it’s about the best you’ll find. Afterwards we’ll hit McDonalds for a shamrock shake.

Unfortunately it looks like I’ll be shoveling snow all day - woke up to two feet and still coming down! After church I’ll do what I always do on Sunday anyway, play Irish tune after Irish tune on my whistles! (Think I’ll get out my genealogy book and figure out just how far back my Irish roots are, though.)

I should probably figure out where my irish roots are too. They’re back there somewhere, on my dad’s side.
Well, the roots are pretty well buried…Francis Fanning was my however-many-greats-grandfather. He was Mayor of Limerick, County Limerick, in the early 1600s. His son Edmund was born in County Limerick in 1620 but died in Connecticut - the emigrant. But I say anybody who can be moved deeply by Irish music has the roots there somewhere - however deep!

I did not wear any green to church, but I do have a Waltons D that I can use in a pinch (pun intended), because it has a green fipple. The top just stuck out of my pocket.

It sounds like a lot of you did fun things for Pat’s day! Concerts, gigs - wizard! My parents and I went out to lunch - Chili’s - it was really good! I don’t think I have any Irish in me - British, but not Irish, or at least, I don’t think I do.

My mom grew up in Dublin, and at this time of year, I’m always tempted to use her maiden name - Conlon - instead of the Dutch name that my Dad gave me!

Conlon - that’s a really cool name! I’m planning on changing my last name to an Irish name when I turn 18, I don’t like the last name I have now, which is Norwegian.

I’m a direct descendant of the Carbury clan in Co. Kildare, but b/c my Dad has some German in him, my last name is German. Kind of irritating, because I really took after the Irish side of the family…
LOL a Shamrock shake! Do they still make those things? I’ll have to go by and see on my way to the music store. I’m going to buy a new trad CD to celebrate. I’m trying to save money for my upcoming trip to Big Sur, otherwise I’d be down at the pub with the rest of the loons.
