Wish I could be there with you drinking beers, having a barbeque, playing some tunes, and not just sitting in the office goofing off!
The sun is shining here and the forecast is good for the weekend!

Thank you, Martin. That is exactly the plan: barbeque, tunes, parade, fireworks. I’ll be marching in the parade with my fife and drum corps. The local forecast for the day is sunny with a high of 95 degrees (F) and 90% relative humidity. A little uncomfortable in our wool (U.S.) Civil War uniforms, but a dip in the lake after will feel great!
Happy Independence Day from me too!

We can both celebrate today,

the UK can be happy they got rid of us, and Americans can be happy we got home-rule.

My mom’s grilling steaks and chicken kabobs…
drools
Happy 4th of July!!!
Thanks Martin! Sorry you have to work today. Before the BBQ, I’ll be giving my #3 grandson a Sweetone as a gift for starting school this week. We will have family over all day.
This is not just a celebration of independance, but also a celebration of freedom. Thank you, freedom loving countries, for standing with America in the war against terror and all who threaten freedom.
Have a safe 4th. of July.
God bless America, one nation under God.

You people of the UK rock! Thanks for thinking of us!
Happy Independence/Thanksgiving Day!
Joey
Wow! Thanks, all! It’s wonderful… the comraderie on the board!
I’m planning on finishing my chores and stuff this morning, doing a little baking, and then going over to my boyfriend’s house to watch the fireworks. (His house is in the perfect spot to see them as they go up from the park…)
Thanks to all our brothers and sister over there…over there! Hey, I think I feel a tune coming on…
Anyway, I’m glad you’re having good weather Martin. Our expected high today will be 88 with humidity at 65%. The schedule includes BBQ pork ribs, baked beans, corn on the cob and one too many beers (however many that is…I’m sure my wife will tell me). Then at 9:45pm lottsa fireworks.
As a holiday present to the family the whistles will be silent today.
Happy Independence Day to some and Happy Thanksgiving to others ![]()

Nobody wished us Canadians, “Happy Canada Day” … hmm …

Marty’s not only a creep (English usage - means *ss licker) but he speaks the language too! In my English office days, we ‘wasted time’!
But, seriously, folks - I was able to wish a number of viitors happy 4th July today, in person, and I’m glad to do the same via the board.
All the best to my chiffy US chums!

My plane to England will be in a couple of hours…
seriously!

Thanks, friends from the UK! Hmmm… Thanksgiving Day, indeed…could it be your wounded pride? ![]()
Just kidding!! Seriously, thanks a lot. It’ll be a good, though VERY hot, day. Close to 100 F here in Salt Lake City. We took the kids to the small local suburb parade (not the big hoopla downtown) this morning…a couple of fire engines, some police on motorcycles, a bunch of people throwing candy, you get the picture. Very hot but the kids loved it. Tonight we will have a picnic in the park and play games while waiting for the big firework show.
Happy 4th to everyone!! Let freedom ring!
I just got in from the family barbecue. I hope everyone’s having a good 4th.

I meant to, but it was too late before I got around to it.

Oh… lucky you! Would give a lot right now to be able to go to Sugar House Park with family and a picnic in tow and wait for the fireworks. I love to get right near the end of the park where you are so close you can just lay on your back, look up, and just feel the sound as they go off. sigh So homesick right now. Well, there’s always next year.
Have no idea what today will bring yet. It seems like if we want to see much we will have to travel a bit to a neighboring area. Husband works such long hours, he’s like a zombie when he gets home lately. And he had to work today. He’ll be too tired to go too far. At the very least I’ll cook a good dinner and maybe buy some fireworks to set off out front. Just can’t go completely without fireworks now, it would seem, well… wrong somehow. ![]()
Must admit, all these patriotic songs play great on a whistle. Been having a good time with them this week.
Thanks for the holdiay wishes from overseas.
Have an awesome Fourth of July everyone!

Well, despite 98 degree heat, we made it through the parade today. We played Yankee Doodle, Road to Boston, Gary Owen and many others, even including Dixie! The streets were packed with people, all cheering. My uniform is still in the car, though. I have to try to get it to the same-day dry cleaner in the morning. We have another job tomorrow night and it was looking pretty wilted.
I hope everyone else had a safe and happy holiday, and thanks again to our British friends for the kind words.
Sunny,
Are you from SLC? I didn’t know that. Yes, we did indeed go to Sugarhouse Park, joining the 40,000 or so that were already there. It was great fun and a great show. I haven’t seen the fireworks there before. Hope you had a great 4th!
