I take it somebody mentioned this last year or so?
Can some one tell me what the dot before the first g in Google is for?
I have no knowledge of Braille whatsoever, but that doesn’t stop me from feeling the numbers every time I use an elevator. I almost wish I had an excuse to use it, being as tactile as I am visual. Orally, I would flunk out.
When I feel the bumps I can’t really seem to tell them apart. I’ve always been a little worried that I might need to learn it but wouldn’t be able to. But one of the links with the article says that many people are pleasantly surprised that they can learn it with practice.
It was interesting to read about the system of reading previously taught to blind people and the efforts of the military to have messages that could be read without light. And then how Louis Braille put these ideas together to make something that really worked.
Isn’t it a reference (starting) point?
It means the next letter is capitalized. (Thank goodness for Wikipedia - it means I could go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Braille to verify that instead of calling my blind friend. If I had called him I’d be on the phone for a good hour!)
