Indeed it is a holiday in Utah today (eat your hearts out everyone else). We celebrate the arrival of the pioneers in Utah today. It’s actually bigger than the 4th of July, with one of the largest parades (in the worst heat) in the nation. My daughter and I usually celebrate by leaving town and heading for a mountain trail. But her toe was broken by a flying skateboard (not hers) a few days ago, so we won’t be hiking today. Nice to have a day off though.

Yes, the kids and I are staying in the shade indoors and watching the huge parade on TV. (Unfortunately my husband has to work today.) It certainly is hot today! It’s supposed to be nearly 100 F by this afternoon. Tonight we will go down to Liberty Park for a picnic with family, games, and fireworks. Should be fun!
