Hello, and Happy New Year(Hogmany to those of you in Scotland, and Amar, wherever he is!). I am re-minding the Wide World of Whistlers that I am still here, and still leather working, and still making whistle bags for those of you who may be interested. And for the new members I haven’t met…Hello, I would like to announce that I have a line of leather whistle protective bags for sale of varying sizes for the most of the popular whistles available. I am a leather worker and musician of many years experience, and offer a quality product at a reasonable price. For styles, choice of materials, photos, and prices, please email me at: hielanddonald@earthlink.net. Thank you for taking the time to read this!
Do you have a website with photos, prices, etc?
Tony
No Website, but I can forward you some info. Thanks for asking, take care, Hielandman
I would also like some info on these forwared please
Leather sucks. It is cruel, evil, and seedy.
You should learn to knit with cotton yarn. It is prettier anyway.
I’ve found also that those boxes they make for storing a single bottle of wine also work quite well for keeping high whistles in.
What about Suede then?
You’ll have to ask Martin Milner about that.
Hi there hielandman!
Great material, leather! I would certainly like information on your products and some pictures too! I’ll send you an email requesting such.
Keep up the good work. ![]()

These are beautiful and very well made bags. I almost feel like buying more whistles just so i can buy more bags.
Huh ~ so just where were all you fans of leather during this debacle…?

Sadly I was blissfully unaware of C&F’s existence during that debate!
Same for me, sorry.

Only a few points..
I’m from Texas.
I like leather.
Stuff dies.
The flute forum sucks.
Cran mabe you should change you name to Grumpy ![]()
The flute forum sucks.
However, the people who play flute, mostly blow.
I think I am in a little over my head!! However, I would like to thank everyone who responded in a positive way, and especially Glauber, who is a witness to what really goes on! As (the late, lamented)Johnny Cunninghams Grandmother used to say: “You are born in pain; you live in fear; and, you die alone; have a nice day!!” Take care, and thanks to all who took a peek!
I got my 2 whistle bags the other day. May I say these suede bags are elegant and very well made!!! ![]()

Nah, we’re all vegetarians on the flute forum!
I have tried to find a middle path through this thicket.
So I am willing to use leather that comes
from an animal that would have been slaughtered
anyway if its hide wasn’t going to be
used. (Though I err away from it–unless
I am overcome by lust–because some of
these articles are beautiful, IMO. Also I try
to buy the stuff used if I can.) The idea is that
by proceeding in this way, I do not contribute
to the number of animals killed.
But I avoid leather that comes from an animal
that would not have been slaughtered if
its hide wasn’t wanted.
This is in keeping with Buddhist practice,
at least in a way. So monks, who eat by begging,
are allowed to eat meat that is placed in
their bowl–unless the animal was killed for
their sake.
Well, I’m sure I’ll come back as a cow for saying this, but I got a nice forest green topgrain bag for my low d. It looks like I’m carrying a sword or something. Very cool. Now, I’m not playing the low d so much because I like admiring it in it’s scabbard! I think I need a Robin Hood hat to go with it.
