Hammy's 6 key

Does anyone have any experience with the Hammy’s 6 keyed flute? I am just now looking for a 6 key flute and I am very interested in this one.

Thank you very much
Michael

I have one in blackwood, block mounted keys - about 2 1/2 years old. It helped inspire me to put together the Wooden Flute Obsession compilation CDs, and Hammy put in a good word with some of the players for me. It’s a damn good flute, well-crafted. I wouldn’t trade it for an Olwell (I’ve tried 3). However, I wouldn’t mind adding an Olwell either. What specifically did you want to know? You can post here, email me direct (kevin@csagraphics.com), or call me in Los Angeles at 310-820-4004 x102.

Thanks a lot Kevin. Well the thing is that I am choosing between A Hamilton and a Ormiston 6 keyed, I won’t lie - because of their reputation and price. I have heard that a Hamilton is quite hard to blow (or to fill up) sometimes.

Hi,

Yep, i’ve found Hammy’s flutes a bit difficult to fill. I remember a few years ago when I was in one of his classes I tried one of his flutes and I made some sort of comment to myself about them not sounding much good LOL!!!
Obviously the problem was me!..and the fact that I play a Cronolly blackwood! easiest thing in the world to fill.
But it wouldn’t put me off getting a Hamilton.
On another subject, I have found that playing a piccolo has greatly improved my blowing and breathing when going back to the flute. Maybe something to think about.

I don’t find this so, except perhaps for getting the low D to honk - this takes practice. My Seery is dead easy.
