Ham Radio

This is kind of a spin-off from the sun spot cycle thread…
I know there’s a few folks on here who are into amateur radio, but I’ve clean forgotten who all practice the hobby.
I believe it was Missy’s dad who was a ham, correct?
Who else here is into the hobby?

I, myself, am KE7GEU.
You can usually hear me on 6m when conditions are right, 2m locally, and on the IRLP via the Western Reflector.

yep, your right - I spent many a day cutting grass around towers and wires!

Do they “reuse” call letters? Dad’s was WB8BFT, but he died over 21 years ago.

According to HamData.com, that call sign is available, Missy.

Yep, they’ll reuse a call sign if requested or convenient.
QRZ hs a list of expired call signs that are available for use as vanity call signs. I’ve been toying around with applying to receive my uncle’s old call sign as a vanity sign, but it’s $50 I can put somewhere else for the time being :stuck_out_tongue:
