haiku by Sarah Wisely

I like this little haiku, written by my oldest daughter Sarah Wisely, inspired by her voluntary poverty as a Jesuit Volunteer:

munched over my desk
lentils and raw cookie dough
oddly delicious

Dale, you should be proud, you’ve raised some wonderful children and it sounds like you and your wife are great parents who have given them a loving home and a strong sense of mission and compassion for the world around them.

not sure i’ll try the lentils and cookie dough though…

Lovely haiku…it makes me want some cookie dough though. Minus the lentils of course

That makes my fillings hurt just reading it!

Robin

Trust me… there’re far less appetizing things to eat on the mission field.

That sounds quite normally delicious to me.

Lentils get a bag rap. But those in the know realize that they are the Mana spokne of in religious writings around the world.

Give me chicken and lentil soup anyday.

Blessings to you, Sarah. Great haiku.

-A full belly is a blessing whether from simple fare or not. There is simply nothing like having enough food.
