I have a 6 key Grinter lancewood flute for sale. I had gotten a non-keyed lancewood from Michael to play while my keyed flute was on order and I’ve still mostly been playing the non-keyed flute even now that I have the keyed flute.
Both are gorgeous, easy to play and beautifully made but I have found that I just don’t play the keyed one enough to justify keeping it.
This would cost you $3,400 + S/H if you ordered it today and you would be waiting months. You can have this one right away for $3,100 US plus S/H.
Also known as Dead Finish, an abbreviation for Dead Smooth Finish, a tribute to the working qualities of this lovely Australian timber. It is quite silky and innocuous to work, rather reminiscent of cocus.
Well, I don’t think we even need to hear a lancewood flute to determine the tone, do we, as reddish woods sound warm and blackwood sounds dark and mopane is chocolatey and yellowish boxwood sounds buttery, so judging by the picture lancewood MUST have a warm chocolatey spearing tone quality, no?
All except the low C & C#. OK, let’s go through them as illustrated in the photo: Bb, C, Eb, Short F, Long F, G#. Or, in order as you encounter them from left to right on the photo above: C, Bb, G3, Long F, Short F, Eb. Empty vent holes for low C & C#, with no block for adding them later.
