(also on track 3 of their new album)

-Beautiful whistling by the Gaelic godesses!

What’s the name of that tune?

Best wishes.

Steve

The songs and the tune are:
Tha 'm Buntata Mor
An Bairille
Boc Liath Nan Gobhar

Delightful!

Thanks for the link!

PS, There’s only one green gen, not gens.

There is also a short film about Julie Fowlis, fairly new at Youtube…very good. Too short though. Some whistling.

The second one is a Dixon Trad, isn’t it? I’m guessing she used it so she could tune it to play with the Gen.

I loves me some Julie Fowlis

I hear ya. I’m well past WhOA, but now about this JFOA…

Um the first tune on the whistle is the Rocky Road to Dublin

To me it looks like a MK3 Feadog green head on a nickel tube.

I have to ask: are there stock Gens in green or is it some form of mod?

Some months ago Julie Fowlis said this: “A few years back I also received an amazing few improved Feadog whistles made by Cillian O’Briain from Co. Kerry, one made especially for me in E major (only the second one he ever made) as it suits my preferred singing keys, that is the one from the Transatlantic Sessions clip.”

Maybe it’s a Cillian O’Briain Improved Feadog on a Generation tube.

Yes there are, “Shush” whistles are tweaked ones.

I was referring to Muireann’s whistle as the Feadog. Never seen her play anything else. Julie’s definitely looks like a green gen to me.

There was a program on TG4 a while ago with Muireann going off to Bulgaria or somewhere singing, and she plays a feadog in that with a brass tube, but on the Youtube vid above that really looks like a nickel tube on it.

I did recently put an Oak nickel tube on a Cillian Imp head and found it to be a much nicer whistle.

you can get green Generations off the shelf at all good retailers, individually or by the box, e.g.

Okay, I agree it’s probably not a green Gen, but could it be a Cillian Ó Briain?

“Muireann plays a Martin Doyle flute and Cillian Ó Briain whistle.”

Yes, Muireann plays an Ó Briain.

I agree about the head, but there’s still the question of the tube. I don’t think that’s a standard Cillian tube.
