My vacuum cleaner finally died. I finally got to buy a new one.
I bought a Hoover Windtunnel 2. It laughs in the face of dalmation hair! I was so excited I thought about offering to vacuum the neighbors floor.
If you have pets and want a very good vacuum for a halfway decent price try the Hoover Windtunnel 2. It has a lifetime belt and lifetime HEPA filter. No bags. A huge dirt container! AND it picks up dalmation hair. Which is more like pine needles than hair. Just ask Missy.
Now many of you may say, “Oh yes, I have three cats”, or “I have ten dogs”. If you don’t have a dalmation you don’t have a hair problem. The Hoover Windtunnnel 2 is probably overkill.
If a fan gets turned on in any room in my house, orange hair balls that resemble guinea pigs begin to wander through the house. I have to fight the instinct to reach for a loaded .22 regularly! Oso, without lifting a paw, has personally seen to the strangulation of several poor defenseless vacuums in his 13 years. The Hoover might last a bit longer…but only a bit.
We took out the carpeting. Laminite flooring and a snow shovel works better.
My dalmation has been dead for 10 years. And I’ve moved into a different house. I STILL ocassionally find a white dog hair! And it’s NOT boxer dog hair.
Good for you, Flydood. I, personally, just don’t own another dalmation!!!
How’s the emptying go on that thing? My dustbuster’s plastic reservoir is
always kind of staticky, so I have to shake all the cat hair out, and some
of it inevitably ends up back in the air…
we have a mixed dalmatian and no idea what she’s mixed with. not only does she shed, she can’t stand to have a throw rug lay flat. our house is a mess.
Our nine pound Toy Fox Terrier, Roxy (aka Mighty Mutt), sheds an unbelievable amount of hair. May need to consider the Hoover W2
…our present Amway Clear Trak is just holding its own.
I’ve a theory that vacuum cleaners are a bit like strings on a fiddle.
When they start to die you tend to forget how great they were when you first got them
and
technology keeps improving the industry standards that even the very best are surpassed by the quality of less expensive models sooner or later.
My mother and mother-in-law swear by their ancient high end vacuum cleaners
but my new lesser priced Kenmore Progressive has their vacuum cleaners beat for motor power and ease of use.
I’ve seen lots of vaccums come and go, between my daughters and my church. None of them were anything to write home about, as we say.
Back in the late 70s we splurged and bought the cheapest Electrolux that they made. It has no bells or whistles, just a powerful vac. It cost $200 and we had a $17 a month payment. It’s still going strong, having survived many many Skyes- at least 25, and all of our dirt- which is considerable. I did have to have the motor worked on once, and have replaced the hose twice, but it’s still a great vaccum that I have never had to replace.
