Did anyone go to the fest. in Grass Valley, CA this weekend and see Eileen Ivers’ flute player: Isaac Alderson?
A-HA! That’s where Isaac A. is these days. I saw him in St. Louis right after he won at the All-Irelands.
I think eilam may have mentioned going to that. Might be worth checking back in another day or so to see if he chimes in.
Thanks for the update! Was he wonderful?
just got back. 11 + PM
it was great.
I’ll write tomorrow.
e.
Eileen Ivers and Isaac were great, tons of energy, but it’s almost like a Vegas show.
for me though, the highlights were: David Brewer (pipes and whistles) from Molly’s Revenge, Liz Carroll and John Doyle…David and John did some whistle tunes that David wrote, i have no words to describe, probably genius is as close as i can get,
i know they say: it takes one to know one, so i’m just guessing -
there were many other bands - but for me, these three were just out there.
something about Liz’s playing reminds me of Martin Hayes… and Doyle !
I think there are clips on Mollys-Revenge.com that you can see David playing.
OK, now it’s almost midnight.
Isaac’s living in New York and going to school. His track is completed for Wooden Flute Obsession 3, but I haven’t heard it yet.
Kevin Krell
my friend and I got the chance to do a long session with Isaac, and Jimmy Riley from the same band, and Molly’s Revenge, after the Eileen Ivers show.
We were going to play tunes with John Doyle and Liz Carroll the next day, but we left early.
Where’s the emoticon for :green with envy:?
