Gotta Get An Olwell - Sale has Ended

What am I flypaper for flutes?

I was doing so well, I was down to just one flute before Christmas. Well I’ve currently got 6 flutes (2 have already found homes), with 4 more due within the next couple of weeks. So it’s time to have a Gotta Get an Olwell Sale.

First for your consideration I am offering my Burns Mopane Rudall. The flute is played in and is in better than new condition (IMO – polished inside and out). I am willing to guarantee her new owners complete satisfaction  (less shipping of course). I really love the embouchure of this flute and the broad tonal palate. The thin body and ergonomic tonehole spacing makes for very comfortable playing and fast finger work. I waited 7 months for this flute and received it 2 days after Christmas. I’m selling this Rudall because I have an Olwell Rudall coming. Here is her picture:

The other flute I offered was an old British Cocus 4-key flute in the key of F (no makers mark), It has already found a new home. I recently acquired the flute from Migoya (he had used it on some recordings). The flute is in very good condition, there are some minor dings and the cap is missing (if it ever wore a cap). But, the embouchure and toneholes still have crisp edges to them. There is a repaired surficial crack in the socket of the right hand section (nearly invisible). It has a rather robust voice and lightning fast response. John Skelton practices with an F flute:

Playing the F is a kind of relaxation; it isn’t as hard to fill and has a lovely hard edge, it allows me to ‘let rip’ and get an ‘older’ sound.
