Got my Reyburn Low G today … brass .. Maple head … and have spent most of the evening playing it. Went from air leaks to low volume .. to higher volume and more air leaks to . normal volume.
It has a very nice sound .. through both octaves .. no weak notes at all. I had to work on the breath control but didn’t take as long as I thought it would to get a good sound out of it. I am not trained in music so I have to depend on others to tell me what they think. My wife (who is trained) says the notes are dead on and has a beautiful sound. Volume is not overly loud but will be using a mic .. so no problem.
It does what I want .. and I tried it with both fast and slow tunes .. had no problems with either.
Have both the Low D and the Low G Reyburns now and am very happy with both .. they are great whistles.

Did get the offset holes .. really wouldn’t be needed .. reach is not all that great ..just got use to playing using my little finger on the Low D and liked it.
Learned more about breath control on the Low D than I probably wanted to know but it has helped me on all of the whistles I have. Reyburns seem to grow with you. Better you get on breath control the more you are able to get out of them. This may be common knowledge to some but it was a big surprise to me. It may happen on all whistles .. too new at this to know. Do know that am very happy with these whistles. Won’t be needing any more Low Ds or Low Gs.
