Gorech's Wedding

hi friends.
i have been playing the tune Gorech’s Wedding which i picked of the Danu CD.
i really like it, and would like the notation’s for it, so that i could pass it to our sessioneers.
a search only brought the Danu CD, and no other.
does it go by a different name? anyone has the notations for it, or chords?
thanks, eilam.

The session have it but I don’t know the tune.

thanks treeshark !
it’s a cool tune that blends really nice into FigFor Kiss.
eilam.

I’m actually doing this tune at a friends wedding in a couple of weeks. I learnt it off the CD, and here is my transcription (slightly different from thesession’s):

X:1
T:Gorech’s Wedding
M:9/8
L:1/8
K:Em

[2 {a}gfe {g}fed e3|:{f}g2B BAB {f}g2e|{g}f2A AFA {e}f3|[1 {f}g2B BAB {f}g2e|
{g}fdd add fga:|[2 {a}gfe fed efg|B/c/dB AGF E2D:|

(Copy and paste the above here: http://www.concertina.net/tunes_convert.html to get the dots)

Now, that’s just slicker 'n a greased noodle.

Thanks!

I have been playing the version from the Session for a while it is a nice tune.

i play it like Fyffer, which is of the CD, it’s a great little tune.
i have been running it into Fig for a kiss, are there other combos that work well?
the converter program is great, thanks !!

eilam.

Here’s a thread from a while back that has dots and abc’s for Garech’s Wedding, as posted by StevieJ. This was one of the first tunes I learned on whistle.

The tune is in the book" Irish Tin Whislte Legends" by Tommy Walsh and published by Mel Bay.It’s listed as Garrett’s Wedding and written by Paddy Maloney

Eilam,
As Paddy Maloney wrote it there’s a great whistle recording of him playing it on one of the Chieftains older CD’s. I’ve been playing it live for years and enjoy a dead stop going into the Swallow’s Tail Reel, works nicely.

we just got back from long drive to and from Grass-Valley.
listened to your album the whole way. with the kids singing the songs on the album, and our oldest said he likes your flute playing more than anything he has heard, we all really like your album, and i made a point to replug it, so we just got in, and i see a reply by you!
we’ll try it with Swallow tail Jig, see what happens.

I like your Gravel walk, the third part staying low first time around…great energy!

OK, gotogo get some sleep!

Thanks for the kudos, glad you enjoy the music.
