I always at least glance at the Google ads at the top of each thread, and most often (at least on the Flute Forum), they are pretty well matched with the subject matter in the thread.
I had to chuckle at the “Lies! All Lies!!” thread, that all the ads were Nutrition-based.
So, here’s a challenge:
Let’s see if we can force the Google ads to be of a certain type, based on the content of a particular thread.
For instance: If I want the Google ads in this thread to be about Romance Novels, I think all we have to do is randomly throw in the term “Romance Novel” a few times, even though (I daresay) few of us would ever even venture to ever read something from the “Romance Novel” genre.
Shouldn’t there be ads for romance novels at the top of this thread? It doesn’t seem like there are.
I’m sure you’ll find the Pub to be a very romance novel sort of place to post your news about the latest romance novel. And to hear the news of any novel romances as well. I’m not sure I can do much better than that. Oh, I am re-reading a romance novel, much to my embarrassment. The Outsider or is it The Outlander? I have never read romance novels before and I was surprised to find this one was considered a romance novel although it does have a lot of romance in it. Okay, I can’t keep this up any longer.
You’re pulling my leg, dude! I have been refreshing the screen and I just see stuff for group emailing. I haven’t seen any romance novel ads. This is one of those C&F myths. That the banners change with the topic. It’s like the spider in the beehive hairdo.
We’re supposed to be saying “romance novel”. You don’t want to dilute the words too much. Do you want to see ads for greasy mullet hairdo’s? Hmmm, that would be sort of neat too.
It doesn’t help, Cynth. You could put either of those romance novel covers next to a dictionary’s entry for “lurid”, and each would do as well as the other. This is a thing beyond nuance.
