Goldie Low F question

If anyone has a sound clip or know’s where I can find one of a Goldie Low F I’d appreciate hearing it.

Steve

How about a Lunasa CD? Or one of Mike McGoldrick’s CD’s. Or the Callan Bridge CD by Cillian and Niall Vallely. Or are they Kerry Pros, hmmmmm?

Tinwhistle Tunes/Clips & Snips is full of examples as well. http://www.tinwhistletunes.com Just search through the different tune types and you’ll find plenty of Goldie/Ovetron clips.

Do yourself a favor and just order one. Of all of the whistles I own, my anodised Goldie F is the one I look forward to playing the most. It also is the whistle that I get the most glowing comments on…

PS–If I get a chance, I will make a couple of recordings and PM the links to you.

Thanks Gang.

It’s a good whistle, for sure. Haven’t played one, but I’ve heard them. You can talk to Colin Goldie about your playing style, and he’ll make the right whistle for you.

I agree, just buy it.

If you want an F that’s the one to get.

Woke up early :astonished: and am right awake and thought of the thread. I had send out some links for Fs being played to Steve earlier yesterday. As I like it so much I thought I put one link on here that really is interesting and different style of playing and possibly not easy to find if you not know the player has some of Colin’s instruments. I have it not yet on our website in a profile, it will be going on there soon. The link is to one of Fraser Fifield playing an F which is not a standard fingering but has additional tone holes to suit his style, nevertheless it is an F and his playing in this video shows incredibly the range of expression he can tickle out of his. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d79_DJP5XEw&feature=player_embedded#at=33

On our new website are players profiles which have vid and sound files linked to, as the site is still in its infancy it will be added soon again with some more. I just need to learn how to do new things on it.

edited grammar and couple of words to be more precise, twas very early in the morning

Thanks for the link, Briggite. What a treat for the ears!

I just bought a used one from a board
member, and I must say they’re really
nice. The whistle seems like it’s producing
its own vibrato. It’s just at the point where
it requires piper’s grip (for me, anyway), but
is not as much of a stretch as my low Ds.

Ah! That is the best thing I’ve ever heard. If I had to describe the ideal tone I want in a low F, it would be that! It had that sweet fatness. Mmmm good.

Aanvil suffered through my giving a borrowed Goldie F a good workout after our last session. Quite a gorgeous sounding instrument, IMHO.

Indeed… Suffering from PTSD I am.

Perfectly Tremendous Skillful Demonstration.
