Colin Montgomery at the US Open, what do y’all think about his chances? I am really hoping that this will be the year for his first Major win. Go Monty, go!!!

Tough, tough way to go out, on a brutally tough course, though if par were a more normal 72 instead of 70, the scores would look more normal. Ah well, both Monty and Mickelson will have to cry and wipe their tears on their $400,000 (estimate) checks instead of the seven figure prize money for winning.
Yes, they will. I am at a loss to imagine how they will be able to overcome such a loss.
Seriously, up until the very end I thought we were going to see a playoff between Monty and Phil. An exciting open to the last, of that there is little doubt.
I’m extremely disappointed. I thought this thread was going to be about Monty Panesar, the great up-and-coming England spin-bowler and his prospects in the imminent Test series against Pakistan, not some purveyor of that pseudo-sport for prematurely-retired bank managers.
Yeah … er … what Steve said. Not like some dithering old … er … bank manager thingy. Or cricket. Have you ever tried to sit through that stuff? Gaaaaaaaaawwwwwwddddd! That was painful. Never could figure it out.
What on earth was Mickelson thinking? He’s ahead going into 18, needs to get a par to win, a bogie to go to a playoff. He was playing as though he was behind. Thing is, he always consults his caddie, so it’s like both of them had gone a little bonkers.
It is apparent to me that Phil hasn’t quite overcome his boldness when choosing a play. Ah well, that’s a part of what makes him memorable, in addition to being a great player.
Geoff Ogilvy, Australian gentleman, wins the Open. Good on you Geoff!
Keep an eye on Monty and Harrington at the Open. Both Colin and Padraig are due, and it would seem that Monty’s game is presently pretty good. He’s fired up, I’m a thinking.
Of course, cricket isn’t really a Canadian thing so I do understand your problem here. If you snooze through it as you indicate you will never come to appreciate its many subtleties, nuances and tactics and the intelligence, multifarious skills and sheer mental and physical agility and stamina required of the participants. Contrast that with a five-mile slouching walk through a private park, punctuated by the occasional punching into ornamental lakes of a tiny ball by men with beer-bellies using inexplicably-expensive iron rods. My word, if you’re rich enough you don’t even have to do all that walking, let alone carry your own rods!
I think it was Rosie O’Donnell who put it best: “Golf? That’s not a sport. It’s just a bunch of guys in funny looking pants, walking.”
Though it doesn’t it look like it when watching it on the TV, but golf is a very demanding sport physically. It is also a sport, that if one goes about it carelessly, can really feck up your spine among other things.
It is the most frustrating game I have ever, or will ever play. It really messes with your head. It’s not for the weak, or the idle minded. But, I suppose I’m talking to the wall here.
Cricket? C’mon. Let’s talk about a manly man’s game, RUGGERS!
I don’t follow rugby at all but I thought I heard recently that they were thinking of banning that thing they do when they all form into a huge tarantula shape with their heads down and someone throws the ball underneath them and they all start to shove. I can’t recall now if it was because there was too much risk of upper body injury or whether it was because too many of them were losing their gonads…
Yeah, well I thought it was going to be about C&F’s own Montana. I mean, who gives a rip about some dude at the US Open, or some spin-boozer taking a test? Can either of them play music?
