Dude, surfing was invented in Co. Sligo, Sligeach means “surfing place.” The first jet ski was only invented to tow surfers to waves in Co. Sligo.
I believe it (though I don’t know ziltch about jet skis).
Its hard to imagine anyone with a small craft not surfing as they get to shore.
And once they survive it, it becomes the original thrill ride.
Nothing more fun than broaching in the surf in a small open craft except for maybe wrapping a canoe around a rock on a rivah a couple of hundred miles from the nearest phone.
I don’t think I’d enjoy broaching in the least, at sea, in surf, on a river- ever.

… 'cos of course, ‘The Cliffs of Moher’ might look like an English place name, but it is in fact ‘Thé Clíffs óf Móhér’* which is old Gaelic for “the place where the mountain bike trails are”.

I don’t see Gaelic for “place,” ya sure it don’t just mean “crumbling bike trails?”
It’s Old Gaelic.
Them waves look cold, like.
Wet-suits will keep you sorta warm but be careful don’t chose clothing or equipment that is “yum-yum yellow” unless you like sharks…they surf too.
Safe? 
It’s only safe until you lose your balance.
Cold water has an advantage in that it keeps the crowds down.
(Crowds are no fun, and crowded big surf is double dangerous.)
