I bet nobody wants that bedroom.
“Thank Goodness she’s finally stopped playing that dratted whistle!”
“We just moved in 34 years ago. Is she ever going to invite us over for dinner?”
I called dibs on her apartment back in the 60’s.
Reminds me of that horrid little short story that you hit in about 7th grade or so, “A Rose for Emily.”

We actually had something similar happen to us in January. A P.I. showed up at our front door with a summons from a court in Kraków, Poland. Seems an elderly woman in an apartment there was found dead and had been for several weeks. The city could find no relatives and when they researched what records they had, my wife’s family came up as the last legitimate owners prior to WWII. I guess if we had wanted it we could have gone over and claimed it after some rather expensive legal wrangling. But we can’t always keep up with the place we have now.
