I just picked up an old Eb German piccolo, is the cork placement the same as a flute? Measure the diameter at the head, put it on a stick, so that it’s 1/2 way across the hole? Thanks, John.

I measured my antique piccolo cork placement, and yes it seems to be the same as a large flute. Just measure the bore of the head joint and mark it on the cleaning rod, and it should line up on the center of the emb. hole. You will have to fine tune it when you get it playing.
Thanks Jon. I tried that, the cork is a little too long to get it just right. I’ll have to check it with the tuner. It’s a fun little instrument, looks really small by my regular flute! It’s in Eb, I’d like to find one in D someday to play in place of the whistle at session. Is yours Eb too? J.
