Georgia Pipers - Nov 6th

I’m hosting a pipers gathering on Nov 6th at my house (Roswell, GA). All pipers living in (or near) Georgia are welcome. Please let me know if you are considering attending so we can get a count.

Here’s a tentative schedule, but certainly is flexible and open to suggestions or recommended changes.

12:30 - 1:30 pm: Arrive and make introductions
1:30 - 3:00 pm: Reedmaking workshop
3:00 - 5:30 pm: Lets play some tunes
5:30 - 6:30 pm: Dinner
6:30 - ?:?? pm: More tunes…

John Maschinot has agreed to facilitate the reedmaking workshop, his only payment request is that you bring enough beer so he can have some too. Which is why we should have the reedmaking first (sharp tools and too much beer could be a problem) :boggle:

If you’re interested, please email me or PM me and we’ll finalize the details as it gets a bit closer.

Regards,
Gary

Count me in

bump

I may just get in my flying saucer and zip down there to see you folks in Roswell…oops…wrong Roswell.

Seriously though, I’ll think about it if I can get coverage as I’m on call in November.

glands, That would be great…the more the merry-er.

Flying saucers are optional…

(THIS Roswell’s claim to fame is that Sherman’s troops burned part of the town during the Civil War, as far as I know, no aliens have ever landed here…that’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it)

…I may be mistaken, but at that time, wouldn’t some in Georgia have considered Sherman an alien? I know that today, his name (if mentioned) is spoken with little or no love.

Gary, I have to discuss it with ‘she who must be obeyed’, but I am thinking of making the journey from storm ravaged Florida to storm ravaged Georgia…that is, if you’ll have me over. I seem to have a reputation of being ‘socially malignant’.

Pretty scarey..my wife has picked up that nickname as well.

I thought that was just your dog…well, I guess he learned it somewhere.

Yes you are welcome to make the journey, we’ve got a spare room if you want to stay over Saturday night.

For anyone else wanting to stay over, we have air mattresses and sleeping bags…unless you want to share a room with Joseph. :boggle:

…heh, be forwarned, you’ll do so at your own peril…I’m a sleep-fighter.

That’s still safer than a tight sleeper (in shared quarters).

…I’m just not going to go there…nosiree…nope… :open_mouth:

Well, ‘she who must be obeyed’ has given her consent, and I think I’ll shall join y’all up there in sunny Roswell…one thing needs to be decided…I will have to ask my father-in-law if he’ll be kind enough to watch the dog. ‘She who must be obeyed’ will be working a double on that day and ‘he who must be fed, pooped and peed’ will need a sitter. I do not foresee this as a problem…but one never knows.

Lewis, if you are able to make it down, I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind bringing along that nifty Willie Rowsome Bb set along as well. I’d appreciate an opportunity to get an ‘up close and personal’ look-see at it.

If I come down, are there any beverage requests? Hmmmmmm? Anybody object to Jameson 1780, or, perhaps an Islay Malt?

Blatant bribery! Joseph, how could you stoop so low?

djm

Trust me, from where I usually stand, it wasn’t much of an effort… I think the only person on this forum that can truly verify that is Mr. Boisvert.

Oh I can vouch for ol Josephus…

…have I shown you guys the pics?? Oh man, I’ve got some great bribery pics of Joe and TommyKleen!!

…just think of tights, kilts, beer, mullets…

…mullets? Mullets? MULLETS? Man!!! I must’ve been really hammered, or on a ten year binge (…the latter being the most likely), because I do not ever recall having a mullet!..actually, I don’t even remember having enough hair upstairs to support that style.

Well..the top o’ yer head was covered with that wee cute little blue bonnet Mr. Nordin made for ye, with a lovely tuft of mullet sticking out the back…

speaking of tufts of hair, my family is fostering a dog for a while..it’s a goofy looking springer spaniel that looks a LOT like andy irvine!!

 You oughta post a picture of that.

Pour us another round bartender…I also have a bottle of Jameson that I brought back from Ireland this summer… :boggle:

Slainte!

This could be a dangerous gathering I’m thinking…but hey, as a good friend of mine always says…“We aint havin’ fun 'til they dial 911…”

Bump…if you were on my ‘mailing list’ you should have an email with more information.

If you did not get the email, and are interested let me know and I’ll get ya’ the details.

Slan,
Gary
