I’m hosting a pipers gathering on Nov 6th at my house (Roswell, GA). All pipers living in (or near) Georgia are welcome. Please let me know if you are considering attending so we can get a count.
Here’s a tentative schedule, but certainly is flexible and open to suggestions or recommended changes.
12:30 - 1:30 pm: Arrive and make introductions
1:30 - 3:00 pm: Reedmaking workshop
3:00 - 5:30 pm: Lets play some tunes
5:30 - 6:30 pm: Dinner
6:30 - ?:?? pm: More tunes…
John Maschinot has agreed to facilitate the reedmaking workshop, his only payment request is that you bring enough beer so he can have some too. Which is why we should have the reedmaking first (sharp tools and too much beer could be a problem)
If you’re interested, please email me or PM me and we’ll finalize the details as it gets a bit closer.
glands, That would be great…the more the merry-er.
Flying saucers are optional…
(THIS Roswell’s claim to fame is that Sherman’s troops burned part of the town during the Civil War, as far as I know, no aliens have ever landed here…that’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it)
…I may be mistaken, but at that time, wouldn’t some in Georgia have considered Sherman an alien? I know that today, his name (if mentioned) is spoken with little or no love.
Gary, I have to discuss it with ‘she who must be obeyed’, but I am thinking of making the journey from storm ravaged Florida to storm ravaged Georgia…that is, if you’ll have me over. I seem to have a reputation of being ‘socially malignant’.
Well, ‘she who must be obeyed’ has given her consent, and I think I’ll shall join y’all up there in sunny Roswell…one thing needs to be decided…I will have to ask my father-in-law if he’ll be kind enough to watch the dog. ‘She who must be obeyed’ will be working a double on that day and ‘he who must be fed, pooped and peed’ will need a sitter. I do not foresee this as a problem…but one never knows.
Lewis, if you are able to make it down, I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind bringing along that nifty Willie Rowsome Bb set along as well. I’d appreciate an opportunity to get an ‘up close and personal’ look-see at it.
If I come down, are there any beverage requests? Hmmmmmm? Anybody object to Jameson 1780, or, perhaps an Islay Malt?
…mullets? Mullets? MULLETS? Man!!! I must’ve been really hammered, or on a ten year binge (…the latter being the most likely), because I do not ever recall having a mullet!..actually, I don’t even remember having enough hair upstairs to support that style.
Well..the top o’ yer head was covered with that wee cute little blue bonnet Mr. Nordin made for ye, with a lovely tuft of mullet sticking out the back…
speaking of tufts of hair, my family is fostering a dog for a while..it’s a goofy looking springer spaniel that looks a LOT like andy irvine!!
