Where can I find Generation mouthpieces that are sold separately? I think I have messed mine up trying to tweak it (Bb nickel).
Just buy a new generation whistle altogether, they are cheap enough. I doubt you’ll be able to find the headpieces sold separately. The mouthpiece is almost always the more expensive part of the instrument, that is where all the design is, regardless of materials. If you did find a separate head, it would probably be almost as much as the whole whistle. Maybe, who knows for sure? I’ve never seen disembodied generation heads floating around. Just a note, the tweaks you do usually shouldn’t irreversibly mess up the whistle. In my limited experience at tweaking generations so far (I’ve only tweaked two, but both have been very successful, I’m very pleased), the best tweaks for generations can usually be pretty well undone and tried again. For instance: filling the area under the windway or narrowing the space between the underside of the blade and the bottom of the windway–the gap you should see when you sight straight down the windway of the whistle.
Anyway, get another whistle, try again, and best of luck to you with the tweaking!
You should read the thread I started “1/2 a fife is not better than none” I bet you could find someone on this board who sat on their Generation and bent the thing all up who might be willing to give up the fipple. Look sad. Weep.
If you don’t, join the rest of us who have overtweaked whistles that we use as Christmas tree ornaments.
You could send me the barrel. I have a head I’ve tweaked to my liking, but my barrel has a dent in it. So PM me if you want to re-home your bereaved barrel (I’ll pay shipping…).
Just send the whole thing and squidgirl could play a nice air at the funeral for the discarded parts.
I’ve never considered the Christmas ornament idea for sub-par or retired whistles… not a bad idea… ![]()
