Geek help needed -- Video extraction

I need the video in this link – http://www.wyomingseminary.org/video_gallery/boychoir/hallelujah.swf –
extracted as a stand alone file that’s not dependent on accessing their server so I can continue to play it after they have removed it. I don’t have a clue on how to do this or even if it is possible. Can someone please help? Or do I need to just get a barometer and contact the webmaster and say “I’ll give you this barometer if you’ll give me a copy of that video.”

For those interested, the video is the American Boychoir singing the Halleujah Chorus as arranged by Quincy Jones. (One of those kids is a baby gonzo. Got another one just like him, but he wasn’t on this tour.)

If there is no geeky way to do it, one low tech way is to hook up the output to a TV feed, and use a DVR or similar to record the feed.

For audio feeds, I find that to be the easiest way for me to record imbedded audio. Just play it and record the live sound.

Either Google or go the the browser’s site and search for
“streaming video capture”

Gonzo, Right-click the following url and choose “Save Target As” or “Save Link As” to download the FLV Flash video. Then you can use a stand-alone FLV player to view it offline on your machine whenever you want. The file is around 15 MB.

Thanks all. I had managed to get the file downloaded, but the “stand alone FLV” player was the part I was missing. I googled that and found one from Wimpy, whoever that is, and it works.

Are there other recommendations for a stand along FLV player that I should use instead of Wimpy, or will this stand me in good stead?

And MTGuru – If I had a barometer, it would be displayed on the mantle with a prominent plaque stating “On permanent loan from the MTGuru collection.”

If I had a mantle, that is.

RealPlayer also plays .flv Flash video, and has a neat feature for easy download of .flv files embedded in web pages.

For Firefox users there are a number of independent plugins that will let you download .flv files to your PC, although if you have the right version of RealPlayer you shouldn’t need them.

The trick here was that the FLV link was embedded and hidden in the ZLib compressed halleluja.swf Flash application. But my lucky guess that the FLV was located in the same folder as the SWF turned out to be right.

I use the Wimpy player, too. As a bare-bones ultra-simple FLV player, it’s hard to beat, IMHO. It runs like a demon even on my old Win98 P3 laptop.

A non-existent barometer on a non-existent mantle is perfect for our non-existent weather! It’s hard to think of a more fitting non-honor, for which I am truly almost grateful. :laughing:
