Well, there could well be a few good people here who can help me with my query, I think…
I fell in love with Galician music and the gaita over the past few years and so I’ve recently got a gaita in Do / C by Seivane - and very lovely it is too, I’ll post pics when I figure out how I got it to play Welsh stuff as well, but I also want to learn more Galician tunes. I’ve figured some tunes out by listening to Susana Seivane, Milladoiro and Luar na Lubre but I’d like to learn more repertoire and technique. So, my questions:
Is there a decent instructional manual available, preferably in English or with some English at least - but I can figure things out given time in Spanish and hopefully Galician - and a Cd? Or a Dvd?
Which tune books should I try to obtain, or are there other sources?
Who should I be listening to, to learn repertoire and technique?
With a bit of luck I’ll be out in Galicia within a few months, but until then I’m dependent on the internet, I suppose. As my Spanish is bad and my Galician worse, my web searches haven’t been that successful. Some help would be appreciated!
Luife, thanks a lot! Sorry I took a while to reply to your post but I haven’t had much reliable internet access lately. Hopefully things are sorted now and so I shall go after these links properly.
