Funny t-shirt

My daughter bought me a t-shirt from Walgreen’s for Mother’s Day. This shirt has a silk screened map of Washington State on the front with towns and rivers and other points of interest labeled. The first thing we noticed was that the river near Spokane was labeled the SPOKEN River. Then I really took a good look, and here’s what’s on there:

ON SHIRT ------ SHOULD BE
Spoken River – Spokane River
Chetwetan – Chewelah
Kattle Falls – Kettle Falls
Sacalawa State Park – Sacajawea State Park
Infant Empire – Inland Empire
The Patoves wheet country – The Palouse wheat country
Ginco Petufield Forest State Park – Gingko Petrified Forest State Park
Labor Day Rooec – ???
Wenatonee – Wenatchee
Port Townsand – Port Townsend
Boing 747 – Boeing 747
Mount – ? St. Helens? Adams? Rainier?
Gillord Pinchot National Forest – Gifford Pinchot National Forest
Grvea Harber – Grays Harbor
Quan de Fuca Strail – Juan de Fuca Strait
San Juan Islanda – San Juan Islands

The shirt was made in Honduras. But still, you would think someone who could both read English and read a map would check this before it was put on sale!! Wonder how messed up other state’s t-shirts are across the country? Anybody want to run out to Walgreen’s and check?

Labor Day Rooec – ???

Probably “Rodeo.”

Now you know why the shirt was on sale…

Oh my word! You wonder how they could sell something like that!

BTW, I was delighted, when I ordered flowers for my mom last week, that, for the first time in more than 20 years, I didn’t have to spell “Spokane” for the florist! Word must be getting out there…

Seems like another example of Engrish that Dale pointed out earlier. Might have been made in Honduras but designed in Japan/Korea or wherever!

I was thinking of finding that thread and adding this into it, but decided to start another instead.

My husband’s theory is there was a hand-written list handed to the place where they silk screened the map, and someone couldn’t decipher the handwriting and had no clue what the names were supposed to be.
