Funny looking low whistle on eBay

Has anyone ever seen or played one of these?

The seller claims a closer hole spacing which may make it useful for small-handed players. OTOH, the sound sample seemed really breathy - assuming that wasn’t an artifact of my dial-up connection.

You blow into the end? Isn’t that sort of like a kaval?

I like the look with the metal fittings.

Neat looking and, listening to the sound clip, I wouldn’t use it for many songs but I’d think there would be a song or two that it would really sound nice. A slow sad air of some sort.

Unlike a Kaval, this appears to have a windway channel. It has an interesting appearance.

It looks neat but I would think it would be hard as the dickens to hold steady.

Looks suitable for a futuristic weapon.

With the windway on the bottom it would be quite easy to play, like a Kingflute, or a Thai flute.

I own a low D by this whistlemaker.
It sounds pretty but soft, is well in tune with itself, quite easy to play.
Only : it’s in plastic and primitively handmade, and that you can tell when you look to it closer.
The metal fittings Walden likes so much, well that’s just a strip of silverlooking tape.
But as I said, it’s nice to play. Not to own as your only low whistle, but as an extra for soft slow airs maybe, or for newbees if they can buy it cheap (I think he only sells whistles on ebay).
I have a chieftain, howard and overton low D, but can’t compare it to any of them.
Cheers

Like on the unbound cane flutes from India. From a distance the metalic tape looks good…for the two weeks it lasts.

Thanks for the tip Chuck.

I ended up getting it for 23 $.

Just to have a strange looking whistle in the gig bag at the next session

Cheers!

Yes and it was awful for me. I sold mine back on ebay straight away. Never again. They are sort of plastic tubing not like the stuff susato and Tony Dixon use.
