When first I visited Chiff & Fipple, I was intrigued, but it was a few weeks or months before I visited again. I returned again, some time later, for more information on the Sweetone’s having been designed by Copeland.
Some months later I returned again for info on the mystery of the Ressikan Flute, only to discover that it had now been solved!
I perused the pages of the Web site, but never visited the Forum. Anyway, I’ve been on the forum a while now.
Today I took the final step of Faith, and put my name on the C&F Newsletter mailing list. I’d like to thank my Mom and Dad. My Sister, and the poodle, without whose moral support none of this would be possible. I’d also like to thank the little people, Brainy, Vanity, Smurfette . . .
I lived alone, in the woods, a mile from any neighbor, in a house which I had built myself, on the shore of Walden Pond, in Concord, Massachusetts, and earned my living by the labor of my hands only. I lived there two years and two months. At present I am a sojourner in civilized life again. --H.D.T.
Just think what kind of BS Thoreau would go through now if he started cutting down trees to build himself a cabin on Walden Pond. Between the environmentalists, EPA, the zoning board, the landowners and the building trades unions, he’d probably have written about living in a tent on the shore of Lake Erie.
In honor (honour for those of you who don’t follow Webster’s spellings) of this most joyous rite of passage, I am posting a link to my very first post.

Did anyone see the latest edition? My name appeared in it FOR THE FIRST TIME!!! One step closer to being a real part of the Chiff and Fipple community.

Of course, if the environmentalist, EPA, etc., were not looking out for Walden Pond, he wouldn’t be able to pitch a tent there anyway, because there would be no trees left, the land would be a parking lot for yet another McDonalds, (add in your own “favorite” here), and the pond would be so polluted there wouldn’t be anything left alive.
While I do think that society can get carried away about what we need to preserve, certainly Walden Pond is one place that should be.
