Fuck me !!!

Okay I.m a philistine but …what happened to the good old days as I remember them. When I started playing we did it in back street pubs and we did it cos life was pretty fucking miserable and listening to some old fucker on a box or even a comb and paper made a lot more sense than listening to faggots like mick fucking jagger and the fucking like.
I just phoned home and was told that a MAN who also played the accordian had finally once and for all fucked himself up with the drink. He may even be known to some on this site. He didn’t have much of a mind when I knew him…I guess even that has gone now.But he was one of the greatest musicians and Catholics you could ever hope to meet.
What was ever wrong with having a set of balls and an instrument and an alcohol problem? I’ve read so much shit on this site from a bunch of over educated fucking yuppies to last a fucking lifetime. If you have an instrument fucking play the shit out of it and the more tasteless you play probably the better you will be. Maybe I.m tired.Maybe I don’t know what I’m trying to say. Maybe I hate over educated fuckers, Maybe I drank too much. Fuck me…I just discovered that they edited the x out of me. What the x is going on here?

Need a hug, Nate? :tantrum:

Maybe they should have x kept editing.

Let us know later if you even remember making this post.

One of the beauties (always) of traditional music is its inclusivity - “over” educated (is that possible?) bleeps amongst farm hands or whatever. And like any field of human activity, it is legitimately the subject of academic observation and enquiry as well as participation. Nowt wrong with that as long as there are also plenty of folks just playing - and there’d probably be significantly less of those if it weren’t for the “academic”, upper and middle class collectors and “experts” of the last 200 years! The thing is to have fun and enjoy without becoming too serious and up-back-end-ish, whether just doing or examining and researching…

Nuff of that. To follow up treeshark’s apposite contribution:-

S.A. Brains website

(N.B. I have no connection with or interest in S.A. Brains, save as a former resident of Cardiff and as a fan of Welsh Rugby and Brains Dark!)

One great thing about music is that the gift/interest crosscuts
education, income, political inclination, religion,
race, gender… In the groups I jam with, there are all
sorts of people, united by this
great love.
What a relief to get away from academics!

In New Orleans (where I lived a long time)
the only time black and white truly got together
was at concerts. I figure if it weren’t for music,
us humans would have all killed each other long ago.

The point is that
over-educated pansy green-tea slurping yuppies are musicians too,
the ones possessed by the demon, anyhow.
We are all one in this thing.

fuck me! I can’t believe anyone even bothered to reply to that crap! Sorry guys I just got home from a rig camp and was having my customary first night drunk. Won’t do it again ( post that is..not drink).

Awwww, and we were having fun with it…

You can’t beat a good rant! Do post again - you never know what it will engender.

Lol, thats OK lazy left post anytime you like I liked your post alot!!
lol,
Kelly

Yeah, it was a great post. From the heart.
I lived in Calgary for two years in the late sixties,
by the way. Should have heard the things I said.

fuck

Hmm, Changed the filters from x to (bleep).

when they were handing out brains, I thought they said “trains” so I asked for a slow one!

Deisman

Your’e kidding me, right?

Not a bad post at all as rants go, maybe better than most.

As Jim said, from the heart, and with some truth to be found in it: there’s nothing wrong with discussions and studying things academically, but at some point if your going to play the music you’ve got to put the flute to your mouth and play the damn thing.

And I’ve found it’s hard to keep talking when you’ve a flute to your mouth.

To think of all the time wasted at university.

I could have been a star I tell ya!

At least I beat up my liver.

In addition to my earlier apology I feel I should also apologise to Mick Jagger. I am sure he is a very nice person if you get to know him. However it must be obvious even to the most over-educated amoungst you that when I mentioned Mick I was in fact thinking of Rod Stewart and somehow in my drunken state got the two confused. There will be no apology forthcoming to Mr.Stewart, either now or in the future, although he does actually have a rather lovely singing voice for those who do not know him.
I would also like to state that although I am undoubtedly an under-educated bigot I am not in the least bit homophobic. If any of my comments were in any way offensive to anyone in the worldwide happy community, again I apologise.
Thanks to the kind person who posted the ‘Brain’s Faggots’ commercial. I now have a way of proving to my Albertan friends and acquaintances that this kind of thing is quite normal in some cultures - a fact I have found difficult to persuade them of. I was once punched in the head ( a not uncommon occurrence in my life for reasons that are probably already clear ) for using this term, by a gentleman who was offended by the modern usage of this word and was put off eating the meatballs he had previously been enjoying. I have had similar problems with a type of biscuit ( cookie ) known in the U.K as Ginger Nuts. In Canada they are called Ginger Snaps which is rather boring but does help in avoiding misunderstandings.
None of this has been remotely relevant to this site but that is the problem with being a drunk, you end up constantly apologising to everyone and boring them in the process. My employers in their wisdom have only let me out for two days so I have to sober up now. I will shortly be back out in the bush with plenty of time to hang my head in shame and ponder the folly of my ways.

I dunno, I think Mick Jagger’s a meatball.

This is like Stephen Colbert apologizing for insulting Canton, South Dakota in a previous episode of his show.
Of course, he’d been confused. The Canton he’d been thinking of was “that incorporated outhouse Canton, Texas”.

When I arrived in Calgary Alberta in 1969 and realized
what the winters would be like, I thought: ‘Well, there
must be lots of indoor athletic facilities–otherwise people
would be going crazy all winter.’ There were, it turned
out, at least at the time, virtually no indoor athletic facilities–
unless fist fights in bars are counted.
