Is Davy Stephenson making pipes again?

I have one of his sets - definitely a wide bore chanter - very LOUD. The bore went banana on me a little bit in the adjustment to midwestern US atmospheric conditions. It is currently playing OK - not great, but not poorly either with an old Kirk Lynch reed I had laying around (had to shorten the staple though). I really need to get it properly reeded. Overall, it is a serviceable chanter and I currently have a fellow using the set until his ordered set from another maker arrives. Davy’s drones are fine and are based on a Rowesome style bore I believe. His chanters are based on a Hunter pattern.

Never heard one of his student chanters though.

I have had this for 4 years. I dont think davy is making pipes again or at least not any time soon. This one has decent bore, but its not overly loud. Really nice sounding. Its been here in the usa long enough, and I think the wood was well cured and seasoned. The thing is mint.

I hate to do this Seosamh, but have you joined Chiff and Fipple to sell your instrument, or do you intend on being a contributing member to the forums here?

I actually joined because I finally figured out how. For the longest time Icouldnt post. Actually it was a while ago when people were having troiubles with Stephenson, and thats how i got his contact information again. Anyways he finally got my own chanter back to me. After many months of requests, after 4 years I got it back, it was not keyed though. Its unfortunate I had to have the NYPD motivate him. I am selling this chanter on his behalf.

Me Personally, I ve been playing for 6 years, I have 2 half sets, a seth gallagher which I love, and a davy stephenson. Both are nice sets. I ha ve regs on order and will have them soon.

I’ve played with Paddy Keenan, and will be playing with Cillian Vallely this sunday.

I’m confused? You never got a chanter you ordered or you sent this back to have keys put on it and never got it back or what? How’ the NYPD help? And now you are selling it for him? Oh… my achin’ head…

I sent my chanter to be keyed, while i waited I had this chanter (keyless). So I had davy send me back the original chanter so i can find someone to do the work, he reimbursed me, sent it back, and I agreed to try to sell this one before sending it back to england.

Its a really nice chanter, I don’t think It will be a problem. Anyways, I love my seth gallagher set, and im getting my stephenson set cleaned up to maybe sell as well.
