I like your alias!

Hi David, Andy Flannery here, I can’t believe your getting rid of your Murray, I can remember when you brought it out at the Crescent, that thing relly honked, i’ll not be bidding since I’m a lefty and my Hammy is going well, good luck with your sale and the new flute.
I’m curious as to why you chose only three keys, and why this particular three. (…assuming that you had this built.)
Thanks Jordan and Andy

Yes, the flute was made for me. These were the only keys i was using at that time. It made sense to go for the 3. After discussing my requirements with Sam he sugggested this particular combination. I have seen quite a few 3 key Murray flutes like mine being played around Belfast.

Personally I think those are the right three keys.
C natural is very useful; it simplifies a lot of fingering.
Gsharp is helpful and the long F natural key covers
that base.
I can half-hole Bb easily; others point out it crossfingers,
and Eb, while it would be my fourth key if I had
one, isn’t used so much in ITM and anyhow I
can actually half-hole it.
Last day, bumpity bump
My Sam Murray has the same combination of those 3 keys, and I find it serves my purposes more than suffice.
I would never sell mine to be honest, as I really love it, but I suppose I’m curious as to what yours went for?
(…That is if you don’t mind divulging that information, as I bought mine many, many years ago, and I’d be interested to know what someone would expect to pay for a similar flute, at this point in time).
Sorry, I just clicked on the Ebay link (as I initially assumed it would be dead now as the auction is over), and see it sold for £1,050.
Looks like “123barryjig” got themselves a bargain!
