FS price cut: delrin Hammy, Overton whistles, Schaferpfeife

Hi all,

Now I can’t avoid offering some of my instruments for sale. Any questions welcome and for a start, I’ve uploaded some photos at myspace.com/alevente, under ’items’. I can send detailed close-ups on request. A 10-day trial period is fine for me on any of them.

Not looking to make profit and selling these instruments is the worst-case scenario in keeping myself going. You can check the list prices, I’d like to get as close to them as possible. Let’s see what happens.

  1. My keyless delrin Hammy. If memory serves well, it was made in 2004 and I happily queued up with the usual waiting time and payed the same price as for a blackwood one. I don’t think I need to say much. The flute offers what a Hammy does and it’s made of delrin so it’s a perfect one for playing ANYWHERE and requires very little care and maintenance. I particularly like the oval embrochure of this flute, it’s one of the best ones I’ve ever owned. In terms of lipwork, it makes the flute a very responsive and refined instrument. It comes with a Cavallaro soft case, as new. The current price of a keyless Hammy is 850 euros.

  2. I’m also offering some whistles by Colin Goldie. Except for the C one, all of them have a very solid back pressure, lovely for flute players. For list prices go to http://www.overton.de/texte/pricelist.html
    Mezzo Soprano C
    Alto G
Tenor (low) Eb tunable, anodized blue

  3. Also offering a Schaferpfeife/Shepherd’s bagpipes for sale. It was made by reputed German maker, Jürgen Ross in 2004. Two drones in G-g, chanter (F)G-c almost fully chromatic, built and played the same way as the Central-France type bagpipes.

Here is an interview with him presenting his work (in German). At 08.00 you hear the Schaferpfeife played.

And here is the website of the maker, you find a general description of his instruments in English and more on Schaferpfeife in German: http://www.dudelsackbau.de

This one was used very little for the last 3 years, it’s as new. It comes with 2 spare reeds, a soft case, a fingering chart and a tutorial (book + CD) by Bernard Boulanger called Playing The Bagpipes.

Jürgen has been a respected maker for decades and he is definitely one of the most helpful makers I’ve ever met, a lovely guy to deal with, speaks good English. I’ve just talked to him and if the buyer requests, the instrument will be sent to him first for a check-up and he will then ship it to the final address.
Current list price is 1.470 euros, I bought it for 1.365 in 2004.

I’m sorry to hear that you need to sell your instruments, Levente. Here’s wishing you better times ahead!

Your dudelsack sounds wonderful!

Good luck, Levente – I wish I could help but things are bad here, too. I’ll say a prayer for you.

Thanks, azw and Cathy,

for your empathy and even prayers. Without being pathetic but retaining a pinch of irony, either keeping or selling the stuff will make me richer. Well, in a way.

And azw, that dudelsack is fun to play indeed. The way those cuts n taps just pop out from under your fingers…

All the best

PS.: The armchair you see in the photos is not for sale - yet.

I started to offer these about a month ago. Now I’m ready to sell the pipes and the Hammy flute for something around 500-600 euros.

Hi Levente!

For interested parties…I previously bought a 6 key Hammy from Levente earlier this year…quality instrument, good communications, good price, fast delivery…what more can i say!

Thanks Ainle,

for those kind words. Actually, they remind me I’ve promised to send you a record of my favourite jig that calls for lots of keyed notes. Will do soon.

What can I say? I hate being part of the history of economy and selling instruments I always meant to keep for a life. I hate it more than sitting in a dentist’s chair.
