FS or trade: Kenneth McNicholl practise set

I have a used practice set with classic chanter with brass reed cap, leather bag, bellows and a few reeds. I’m asking $650 or best offer and Ill pay shipping and insurance. The chanter was reeded by a member of this forum and was well regarded by him.

Here was the ad for a set I traded for a few months ago, and to tell the truth have never got to grips with.

It’s a D practise set by McNicholl Bagpipes, substantially similar or identical with this photo:

The package includes the Spillane and Clarke tutors, the latter with CD, as well as some reeds, one reeded by a board member here.

I’m looking for $650 US, or else 2 instruments from Troubador - the Lionheart and Troubador Octave mandolins. Total cost postpaid to me is £300, and you could probably get a slight discount on postage for two together. At today’s rates, that’s about 580-odd bucks US according to the exchange thingie I just did.

I haven’t posted here in a while, but I am reasonably well known, I hope, and I can probably supply a reference or two to members who’ve either met me in real life, or have traded instruments with me here and who can (hopefully) vouch for my apparrant lack of larceny.

I might also trade for a flute in C or D, depending, or a better bouzouki or octave mandolin than the troubadors.

Just had a after thought?

Is it possible to start on a practice set and then at a later stage purchase drones and install them on the proactice set?

For most practice sets, this is true… including the above set. I recommend that everyone begins with either a practice set, or a 1/2 set… but not to use the drones, rather, get used to the feel of them across your lap while you are working on the chanter technique.

Note: despite appearances, this set has not actually been played by a dog.

Not even a little bit.

So, you are saying this set is slobber-free?
