Years ago, when I was having an I’m-feeling-connected-to-Native-American-Spirituality-and-music phase, I bought a Native American Flute, which I never really could play all that well, and of course, it wasn’t in a western scale, so it never really fit into my psyche. It has sat, and gathered dust, and it should have a home where someone will play it.
It is not typical, by any means, in that it is made of Sassafras rather than the typical Cedar. If you don’t know, Sassafras is a very soft, pithy wood, and consequently, this flute is very quiet. (For the overly curious: Wikipedia: Sassafras)
I can make it sound very much like a mourning dove, but that is where its novelty has worn off.

I paid $150 for it perhaps 5 years ago, and it is in the condition I bought it - not a single crack, ding or scratch, and plays as quietly and sweetly as that day.
